LAHORE Poverty, unemployment, dearness, low-literacy rate and backwardness has increased considerably due to wrong policies of the rulers, said Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab ameer Dr Waseem Akhtar. Addressing various ceremonies here on Wednesday, he said, US friendship is more dangerous than her enmity. Thousands innocent citizens have been martyred, while the rulers alliance including opposition are playing a role of silent spectators, he said. Dr Waseem said that dependence on the world financial institutions and policies of the US interest was causing irreparable loss to the economy of country. The budget dictated by the IMF and World Bank could not be helpful and beneficial for the country. He said that JI was in favour of small administrative units for better division of resources and early solution of masses problems. Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Liaquat Baloch has said the government was not serious for a probe into the Abbotabad tragedy and the announcement of the Inquiry Commission was only to meet the Opposition deadline and to render its protest ineffective. In a statement issued here on Wednesday, he said that the naval base debacle after the Abbotabad tragedy had proved the governments failure and shown that the rulers were least concerned about the national security. The nation as a whole had expressed its distrust in the government, he added. Baloch said the rulers were simply obeying the US dictation but there could be no improvement of the situation without getting rid of the US slavery.
