The Balochistan situation with regard to law and order and missing persons is getting bad to worse and the Supreme Court has shown both anger and anxiety at the government and law enforcing agencies’ indifferent attitude. Hearing the case on Friday, the learned judges asked for the suspension of the Interior Secretary for non-compliance of the court orders and, if need be, the appointment of a new Attorney General. The court took serious notice of the killing of three missing persons about whom the Chief Justice had earlier directed that they be produced before the court. He called for bringing to book those responsible for their killings. The court rejected a report submitted by PM’s Principal Secretary on behalf of the federal government and through him advised the PM and President to consult the Defence and Interior Secretaries and present a candid solution of the Balochistan tangle. The court expressed indignation over non-appearance of IG FC in the court who was reported to have gone to Iran on a visit.Later, Chief Minister Raisani denied the Information Minister’s statement that the FC was operating under his charge. There is hardly time to waste in such contradictions. Balochistan cries out for a serious approach.
