The second round of junior trial matches started here at the Mushaf Ali Mir Squash Complex on Saturday to select the Pakistan junior team for the World Junior Squash Team Championship to be held in Poland. 

Asim Khan, Kashif Asif, Salman Hashmi and Saifullah Kakar joined top five junior players Tayyab Aslam, Syed Ali Shah Bukhari, Ammad Fareed, Bilal Zakir and Israr Ahemd for the trial matches which will continue till June 4.

Ammad Fareed remained on top on the opening day with three out of three wins. In the first match, Ammad beat Salman Hashmi 3-2. Ammad returned home Saturday from Kuwait and was feeling the effects as he battled hard to win the first match and won the first game 11-6, second 11-8, before losing next two games 7-11 and 6-11. Ammad then bounced back in style to take the fifth game 11-7, thus won the tough match 3-2. In the second match, Ammad beat Israr Ahmed 3-0, winning 11-0, 13-11 and 11-8. The third match saw Ammad beating Bilal Zakir 3-1. Ammad lost the first game 12-14, but went on to win the next three games 11-6, 11-1 and 11-2 to take the match.  Bilal Zakir won his first match against Kashif Asif 3-1, winning 11-5, 8-11, 11-6 and 11-8. Tayyab Aslam won his matches against Saifullah Kakar and Kashif Asif as in the first match, Tayyab beat Saifullah 3-0 while in the second match, Tayyab defeated Kashif 15-13, 11-8 and 11-5. Ali Bukhari beat Salman Hashmi 3-0 winning the match 11-7, 13-11 and 11-9 while in the last match of the day, Kashif Asif, who finished the first phase of trial matches on top, finally found his rhythm and beat Saifullah Kakar 3-1 winning the match 11-8, 11-7, 5-11 and 16-14.
