Brig (retd) Arif Mahmud Siddiqui and Lt Col (retd) Zafar Ahmed re-elected as president and secretary of Islamabad Olympic Association (IOA) for next four years term during its annual general council meeting held here at a local hotel on Saturday.
Representatives from athletics, boxing, basketball, bodybuilding, badminton, FBISE, football, hockey, judo, kabbadi, karate, rifle shooting, swimming, snooker, table tennis, taekwondo, wushu, wrestling and weightlifting associations attended the meeting of the IOA.
Brig (retd) Arif Mahmud Siddiqui was elected as president, Dr Nadeem Afraz (wrestling) senior vice president, Dr Shaheen Khan (FBISE) and Nabeela Kamran (swimming) lady vice presidents, Zareef Khan (judo), Imtiaz Gill (badminton) and Col Agha Abbas Raza (shooting) vice presidents, Lt Col (retd) Zafar Ahmed Secretary, Liaqat Dogar (taekwondo) treasurer while Tayyaba Gill (table tennis), M Zaman (football), Auon Abbas (boxing), Jackie Chen (wushu) and Ch M Akram (volleyball) were elected as associate secretaries.
The president thanked the participants for reposing confidence in him and stressed upon the need for preparation of a very strong contingent to represent Islamabad during the forthcoming 32nd National Games being organised in Islamabad from June 28. He also expected that all the participants would provide maximum possible administrative and technical support to the organising committee of the Games.
