Government College University Faisalabad’s students have developed an electronic voting system (Digital Ballot Machine), enabling the users to cast votes through thumb impression and Nadra verification within no time. The e-ballot paper can make the process of casting votes transparent and easy in Pakistan like in developed countries of the world. It was displayed by the students at a competition titled “Creative Con” (who is creative) arranged by the College of Computer Sciences and Information Technology. It was aimed at inducing creativity among the students. Under the event, creative project competition, poster design and logo design displays were also held. The electronic voting system will verify the voters with the feeding of CNIC number and thumb impression on the data of Nadra. It is having symbols of different political parties and users with the touch screen will cast their votes.Addressing on the occasion, GCUF Vice Chancellor Dr Zakir Hussain lauded the creativity of the students and said that the innovation will also facilitate the Elections Commission of Pakistan to make electronic voting system as par with the developed nations’ to make the process easy and more transparent.  He said that the GCUF always encouraged the talented students and was making an all-out effort to guide them and providing state-of-the-art facilities or them. He said the people who think out of box and use the creativity make the history. He said Pakistan is blessed with talented and creative people who must be provided a platform to exhibit their skills before the people. He said information technology had gained an immense importance in this era as the world has turned to the global village. He was of the view that such events provide an opportunity for the students to look around and think for the solution to various problems being faced by the humanity. The Digital Ballot Machine is produced by a panel of Muhammad Mohsin, Arslan Khan and Muhammad Usman Tahir of BS (CS) 6th Semester. The students said the innovation was made under the kind guidance of his teachers who rendered their full support and encouragement in completing the project. They said that the idea behind the project was to usage of the modern technology in the process of democracy for making it more strengthened in the country. They said that Pakistan needs to adopt the modern technology in order to make progress in every field of life. Dean Naureen Aziz Qureshi, College Principal Dr Nadeem Asif and Computer Sciences Chairman Dr Ramazan Talib were present.
