Funeral prayer of renowned educationists Prof Azfar Rizvi, who was gunned down along with his driver on Friday night, was held in Federal Area Block-5 outside his house. Later, his body was taken to Yaseenabad graveyard for burial.
A large number of politicians, social and literary personalities and journalists participated in the funeral Azfar Rizvi. Chairman Board of Intermediate Prof Anwar Ahmed Zai, leader of private schools’ association, Khalid Shah, members of Karachi Arts Council and Anjuman-e-Taraqi Urdu Pakistan also attended the funeral.
Prof Rizvi was gunned down by unidentified attackers in Kareemabad on Friday night. Police believed that it was a sectarian killing; however, Rizvi’s son refuted the police claim and said that his father merely had a “Shia-sounding name.”
Rizvi was the CEO of Dhaka Coaching Center served as honorary secretary of Anjuman Taraqqi-e-Urdu Pakistan, a chief patron of the Pakistan Association of Press photographers and a Syndicate member of Federal Urdu University.
POLITICIANS AND EDUCATIONISTS CENSURE THE MURDER
A wide condemnation by politicians and literary circles was expressed over the unjustified murder of Prof Azfar Rizvi in Karachi on Friday night.
Private Schools Association, Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM), Peak Private Schools Association, Sindh, Pakistan Association of Press photographers, MQM and others strongly condemned the brutal killing of the educationist.
Various private schools associations observed a day of mourning on Saturday. The members of these associations demanded the government immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the killing of innocent man. Private Schools Association Chairman Khalid Shah said that Prof Rizvi was self-made person who spent his whole life for the promotion of education, art and literature. He termed the murder of the educationist a national loss. Peak Private Schools Association, Sindh, President Hyder Ali murder a shame for the country where educationists, poets, writers were being killed brutally.
Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has also ordered Sindh IGP to furnish a probe report within next 24 hours.
MQM Chief Altaf Hussain also condemned the killing of the literary person and said that Prof Rizvi was a man of principal.
Similarly, JI Sindh Chief Dr Mairajul Huda also condemned the targeted murder of Prof Rizvi, and said that frequent murders of innocent citizens in the metropolis revealed the failure of the government.
MQM’s coordination committee member Senator Nasreen Jalil also condemned the brutal murder of Rizvi and his driver. She also visited the bereaved family. Nasreen claimed that Rizvi was also an old associate of the MQM’s Federal B’ Area Sector and Residents’ Committee and demanded the government immediate arrest of the murderers.
