PTI leader Chaudhry Irtaza Dawood criticised yellow journalism during a party meeting here and said that struggle against immorality and nudity is duty of every citizen.

Flanked by Mehmood Ahmad, M Imran and Kamran, he criticised a local newspaper for allegedly carrying out character assassination of Cloth Merchant Association Secretary-General Meraj Muhammad Khan. He added that the traders, activists and common public of the tehsil are concerned over the situation.

He demanded that the district and local administrations should take a stern action against the elements behind this act otherwise the traders and the citizens would be forced to take to the streets. “The Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf’s is with Meraj Khan and condemns his character assassination. No one will be allowed to blackmail peace-loving and law-abiding citizens through yellow journalism,” said Irtaza at his house in Sadiqabad.  He was of the view that Meraj Muhammad had raised a voice for truth for which more than 100,000 people of Sadiqabad are behind the latter.” He said that a local newspaper was used to blackmailing peace-loving and innocent people of the area as whosoever raised voice against nudity and immorality, the newspaper started assassinating his character.

“Now, enough is enough! All the trade, social, political and media organisations have decided to bring the perpetrators to book,” he said.
