Cop shot dead; wife, 2 kids strangulated in Karachi

KARACHI - A personnel of police Rapid Response Force (RRF), alongwith his three family members was found dead from inside their home situated in Gulshan-e-Mazdoor area within the premises of Saeedabad police station.
According to details, the deceased police personnel was identified as Ramzan, 37, son of Ghulam Sarwar, who was an active duty cop in Sindh police’s RRF. The body of RRF personnel was found near the entrance of the house. 
He had received bullet wounds in his head and chest, while his wife, namely Nadia, 28, his three-year-old son, Asad and one-and-a-half-year old daughter, Omaima were strangulated to death.
However, police remained unable to ascertain the motive and how the victims were killed but they suspected that the circumstantial evidences suggests that unidentified killer or killers, who could be more than two, shot Ramzan dead as soon as he opened the door to the main entrance of his house.
Police said that the attackers were known to the deceased cop and his family. A police officer said that the armed assailants shot and killed Ramzan after strangulating his wife and kids to death, adding, that after dragging his body inside, the assailants went after his family, it appears that they forced the three to the second floor of the house and then throttled them all.
 Police reached the site and found all the family members dead after the victims neighbouring woman informed the police. The neighboring people of the victims said that deceased cop hailed from Larkana.
“Since then they were living in Baldia Town,” police quoted the statements of neighbours. On the other hand, police investigators suspected that the victims might have been killed in the name of honour while the police have also obtained the finger prints to trace the culprits.
Their bodies were moved to Civil Hospital, Karachi for autopsy and later their bodies were sent to Islamabad for burial process as deceased cop’s family lives in Islamabad.
No case has been registered till filing the news item while further investigation was underway.
Separately, 40-year-old Mino, was killed inside her house in Lines Area within the limits of Brigade police station. Police said that the deceased woman was the mother of five children.
SHO Ghulam Nabi Afridi said that deceased was killed apparently by her husband, namely Muhammad Buksh, who tortured his wife to death over family dispute after exchange of hot words and escaped after committing the crime.
In another incident, 15-year-old Gul Zaman was killed in Shah Faisal Goth within the limits of Orangi Town police station.
SHO Tanvir Murad said that deceased was tortured to death by his relatives, Lal Shah and his two sons – Kamran and Ahmed over personal enmity, adding, that all the three culprits have also been arrested while further investigation into the incident was underway.
Seven prisoners released from Malir jail
APP adds: An NGO, working for providing justice to the poor prisoners, has helped seven prisoners in their release from District Jail Malir.
Chairman Saiban, Haq Nawaz Akhtar paid the amount of fine, travelling expenses and got seven prisoners released who had completed their sentence but were not released for payment of their fines, said a press releases on Sunday.
As per new judicial policy of the Supreme Court, District and Sessions Judge Malir Muhammad Yameen along with judicial officers visited Malir District Jail on Saturday.
The DJ surveyed various barracks where he met the prisoners and inquired about the details of their cases. A large number of prisoners submitted applications for early hearing of their cases while many others submitted applications for review of the courts’ decisions.
Seven prisoners informed the DJ that they had completed their sentence but were in jail because they were unable to pay the fine.
Haq Nawaz Akhtar paid their fine amount, on which the DJ ordered that the prisoners should immediate be released.
