BAHAWALNAGAR - DCO Syed Haider Iqbal lauded the media’s role for the betterment of society, pledging that stern action will be taken on the pointation of media against any irregularity.

He was talking to a delegation of Bahawalnagar Press Club comprising Sohail Khan, Abdul Manan Wattoo, Rao Dilshad Ahmad and Kamran Manzoor who called on him here Monday.

When his attention was drawn towards massive irregularities in admission to Daanish School during the current year, Mr Iqbal called in the entire team and ordered a thorough probe. The DCO also sought report of the probe within two days.

Earlier, he directed the EDO (F&P) to submit a report regarding the irregularities in the Health Department immediately which had been delayed for several days.

He said that “zero tolerance” would be shown to corrupt elements, declaring that there was no space for such elements. “If the media positively highlighted any issue, it will be resolved forthwith,” he pointed, adding that the mediamen should extend fair cooperation to the district administration for timely resolution public welfare-oriented issues. He appreciated the role Bahawalnagar Press Club being the oldest and unique forum of real journalists.
