RAWALPINDI - City Police Officer (CPO) Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi issued show cause notice to Rescue 15 Shift In-charge Sub Inspector (SI) Muhammad Amin over refusing to provide emergency assistance and misbehaving with a crime victim citizen. “The show cause notice was issued by top cop in the light of an inquiry held by former Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Headquarters (HQ) Tahir Sikandar who had declared SI Muhammad Amin guilty and recommended strict departmental

action against him,” reliable sources disclosed to The Nation on Monday.

According to sources, a taxi cab driver Sohail phoned Police Emergency Service Rescue 15 on May 12 for help after three drunken men, who hired his taxi on rent, refused to pay him rent and thrashed him at Harley Street. “However, SI Muhammad Amin, who was Rescue 15 night in-charge, not only refused to provide assistance to Sohail but also misbehaved with him,” sources said.

The citizen lodged a complaint against the SI. Taking action on the complaint, the CPO ordered inquiry. DSP HQ, after launching detailed probe into the matter, found SI Amin guilty and recommended strict departmental action against him, sources said. The SI might be suspended or dismiss from police service by CPO over this huge violation, sources said. Meanwhile, In-charge Rescue 15 submitted a report to SP HQ Amir Abdullah Niazi in which he mentioned that SI Muhammad Amin and two Rescue 15 officials Babar and Computer Operator Shafique-ur-Rehman had close relations with a citizen Wasim Ahmed (a car dealer), whom they issued fake Rescue 15 vehicle verification cards against bribe.
