PESHAWAR - Complainant Sher Alam, father of deceased Habibullah who was shot dead on the day of Local Bodies election in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, withdrew FIR against Mian Iftikhar Hussain and said that he was pressured and got emotional at the time of registering First Information Report in police station.On Monday, Sher Alam appeared before a judicial magistrate and told him that former ANP General Secretary Mian Ifitkhar Hussain and his guard were not involved in the killing of his son. He said Mian Iftikhar was like his elder brother and he got too much emotional when a huge gathering of people forced him to register FIR against the ANP leader. Talking to media outside the court,

ANP general secretary said that it was because of Sher Alam that he was not harmed the day “I was attacked for alleged involvement in the killing of the PTI worker”. He said that he did not know who opened fire as a result of which Habibullah was killed. The former ANP minister thanked PTI chairman Imran Khan for his appreciation and asked Imran to investigate and unveil the people behind his nomination in the murder case.After the elections Mian Iftikhar Hussain was arrested for alleged involvement in murder of Habibullah outside ANP campaign office in Pabbi Bazaar where party workers had gathered to celebrate their victory in the local government elections. The arrest of ANP leader attracted widespread condemnation all over the country while ANP workers staged protest demonstration against the arrest of party leader.

However PTI chairman and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister categorically denied any involvement of provincial government in registration of FIR against Iftikhar. The chief minister has directed Inspector General of Police to deal the case as per merit and as per the law.
