BAHAWALPUR- The women role is of great significance for a bright future of the country and they should pay special attention to the character-building of their children to eliminate terrorism and extremism from the motherland.

Commander Internal Security 57 Brigade Headquarters Brig Muhammad Arshad Khan expressed the views while addressing a seminar on women’s role in National Action Plan here the other day.

He pointed out that Pakistan Army had always worked for the respect and honour of the country, adding that the Army had always been the first in relief activities in any natural disaster. “Pakistan Army cleared South Waziristan from militants and restored peace while now initiated construction of roads and dams, establishment of Cadet College along with other development projects,” he informed, adding that Pakistan Army would not rest until peace was restored in North Waziristan.

Brig Khan said more than 50,000 civilians had been martyred in the war against terrorism while 6,000 Army officials had embraced martyred and 1,500 were disabled for life during the war “but we have not lost our spirit and we will win this war at any cost.”

He said that Pakistan Army had conducted operations against militants in FATA and KPK which included Operation Raah-e-Raast, Raah-e-Nijat and now Zarb-e-Azb, Khyber one and Khyber Two were in progress.

The Commander Internal Security also shed light on the National Action Plan, saying that in District Bahawalnagar 2,000 search operations were conducted along and arrested 70 suspected terrorists and 200 persons were arrested in connection with national action plan.

He urged people to extend cooperation to the Army to eliminate terrorists and their supporters. Brig Khan asked the women to ensure that their children should not get education in such schools where sectarianism and hatred was taught. “Children should be taught tolerance and rejection of extremism so that our society can become peaceful<’ he underlined.
