MANDI BAHAUDDIN

As part of their electioneering for the NA-108 by-poll, the central leaders of the PPP and the Jamaat-e-Islami wooed the voters and supporters by flaying the PML-N policies.

PPP leader Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo alleged that the PML-N was utilising state machinery and influence in NA-108 in a bid to win the upcoming by-election of the constituency.

Addressing a public meeting in connection with the election campaign at Phalia, he urged the PML-N to stop using the state machinery in favour of its candidate Asif Bhagat.

He said that the announcement of development projects and release of heavy funds during the election campaign by the government was tantamount to pre-poll rigging. He also blamed the PML-N rulers for issuing informal instructions to the district administration to lobby for its candidate. He said that was against the spirit of democracy.

Reminding the people of his party’s “services”, he upgraded Mandi Bhauddin subdivision to district level in 1993 when he was Punjab chief minister. He urged the people to vote and support the PPP candidate in the by election.

On the other side, Jamaat-e-Islami leader Liaqat Baloch said that if the PTI and PML-Q were serious to get rid of PML-N rulers, they should support his party.

He was addressing a workers’ convention as part of election campaign in NA 108 by-election for the success of his party candidate Riaz Farooq Sahi.

He said it was 6th time the PML-N was ruling the Punjab province and three times it formed the government at federal level. “It is unfortunate that the PML-N during its rule, instead of stabilising the country, destroyed the national institutions with corruption and anti-people policies,” he said.

He called upon citizens to open their eyes to see what extent PML-N and PPP had caused damage to the national interests and people of Pakistan. He said in the name of democracy, the Sharif family had established the worst dictatorship and distributed all top posts and ministries to their relatives.

He claimed that his party nominated candidate for NA 108 seat was the most competent, honest and sincere person who, if given a chance, would change the lot of people of the constituency. He appealed to the voters for exercising their right to vote in favour of the JI candidate.
