LAHORE - Pakistan look to host more nations their home soil after successful Zimbabwe tour which not only proved fruitful for the country, but also provided cricket-crazy fans opportunities to see their heroes live in action at their home ground and portrayed a positive image of the country to the entire world.

For Zimbabwean’s apropos tour, the entire Pakistani nation not only welcomed them warmly but also lauded their courageous decision of touring the country saying although Pakistan won the T20I and ODI series but the visitors won the hearts of the nation.

The enthusiasm and passion of fans was highly laudable who, in blistering temperatures exceeding 40 Celsius, kept on passing through numerous security checkpoints on their way to the ground to witness the their heroes live in action and made the series successful. They not only cheered for their team during the matches but also stunned the Zimbabwean players by supporting them too equally.

The staging of successful Zimbabwe tour gave a huge sigh of relief to the hosts as the tour ended without major incident and made the way for the other cricket playing nation to visit the country.

Although both the T20I and ODI series were dominated by the host team yet it wasn’t the result which mattered the most but the outcome has great significance to present the entire cricketing world a message that Pakistan is sports loving country and a safe place to host international cricket.

Well begun is half done! The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken a successful step towards international cricket revival in the country but they have to do a lot more to prove to other boards, players and match officials that the country is still safe and secure to tour.

Despite being a low-ranked team and struggling to be built up under the supervision of coach Dav Whatmore, they demanded a high-level security. They were provided foolproof security as over 6000 policemen were deployed for their safety across the city while two companies of Rangers - Pakistan's paramilitary forces - were at standby throughout the series.

All the Zimbabwean players and officials not only lauded foolproof security provided to the team and expressed wish to visit again for playing international cricket.

Their captain termed the series against Pakistan a remarkable one adding the entire tour remained positive and crowd supported in a meaningful manner. Their coach Dav Whatmore also seemed very happy with the revival of international cricket in Pakistan and said that Zimbabwean squad played well and hoped that it would give tough time to other teams as well.

From the moment the guests landed the country to when they left, there were mixed feelings as earlier they were afraid but with the passage of time, they were relaxed, played well, performed well, enjoyed their tour and returned home with remarkable memories which kept on reminding them hospitality and generosity of Pakistani people.

Pakistan is now looking for hosting Sri Lanka who may visit the country possibly next year.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC)'s interim committee chairman Sidath Wettimuny, who graced the third ODI as guest of honour, was very delighted at the success of the tour and revival of international cricket in Pakistan. He was also amazed to see passion and enthusiasm of Pakistani who cheered and supported both the teams with open hearts. Although it would be too early to say anything about Sri Lankan team tour to Pakistan yet he assured that on his return, he would tell everything he had witnessed to his board and try to convince them to visit Pakistan.

The pragmatic step has been taken by the PCB and supported well by the government, now it is hoped that more cricket playing nations will take positive message from successful Zimbabwe tour and visit the country to play cricket here. It is not just the success of the country of staging the tour successfully but in fact, it is cricket which is the ultimate winner.
