LAHORE  - The Punjab government has repatriated seven officers of grade 21 to Islamabad as the number of officers in the province after recent promotions of officers in the same grade exceeded to the prescribed limit, it has been learnt.

Sources in the S&GAD told that those who were repatriated included Secretary Archives Oriya Maqbool Jan Abbasi, Secretary Tourism Muhammad Khan Khichi, Chief Settlement Commissioner Board of Revenue Babur Hasan Bharwana, Commissioner Bahawalpur Saqib Aziz, Member Taxes BOR, former DG Anti Corruption Establishment Abid Javed and Dr Amir Ahmad.

Punjab has 19 seats of BP 21 reserved for the Punjab Administrative Service (PAS) but after the recent promotions of officers from BP 20 to BP 21 by the Central Selection Board (CSB) the number of officer was surpassed to the limit.

As per notification of the S&GAD, those promoted to BP 21 in Punjab included Capt (r) Jehanzeb Khan Secretary Forest, Secretary Home Maj (r) Azam Suleman, P&D chairman Sq Leader (r) Irfan Elahi, CMIT Chairman Irfan Ali, Secretary C&W Muhammad Mushtaq, ACS Energy Muhammad Jehanzeb, Secretary Health Jawad Rafique Malik, Secretary Services Dr Ejaz Munir, Commissioner Faisalabad Capt (r) Nasim Nawaz, Secretary Food Dr Pervaiz Akhtar and Habibur Rehman Gilani.

The officers were ordered to continue on the present posts that were upgraded to grade 21 till their final posting.

Earlier, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had stopped the federal government from issuing the notification of promotion of civil servants from grade 20 to grade 21. Justice Shaukat Aziz of IHC while hearing petitions filed by both grade 20 officers, the Additional Secretary Capital Administration and Development Division (CAAD) Qaiser Majeed Malik and Joint Secretary Akber Shameem had issued the restraining order against the promotion of over 24 bureaucrats. Later, the court vacated the stay order and the Punjab government notified promotions of the officers.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government transferred and posted four officers.  As per notification of the S&GAD, EDO CD Bahawalnagar Ghulam Mustafa was posed as OSD, Director Development and Finance Commissioner Office Muhammad Akhtar was posted as Additional Secretary Agriculture Department and he was replaced by Amjad Ali Director Development and Finance Commissioner Office Faisalabad. Riaz Ahmad Shahid Director Admin PHA Gujranwala was posted as Deputy Secretary School Department.
