Punjab Finance Minister Aisha Ghaus Pasha is presenting the provincial budget for the year (2017-18) with an outlay of almost Rs2 trillion.

The government has announced Rs345 billion for education compared to last year's Rs312 billion. It has also approved an annual development plan amounting to Rs635 billion.

The finance minister said that at least 15 per cent of the total budget will be spent on health sector. 

The development budget is 15 per cent more than the current fiscal year, the finance minister said.

Earlier, the provincial cabinet approved the budget in a meeting presided over by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

The meeting was attended by different provincial ministers, special assistants, advisers and others.
