LAHORE (APP) - Epoch-making steps are being taken on top priority to restore the credibility of Pakistan Television Corporation and improve the quality of all programmes to achieve excellence within the ambit of decency and morality. Unfolding the distinctive features of PTV future strategy, the Deputy Managing Director, PTV, Shahid Nadeem while talking to APP here on Sunday during his visit to PTV centre said that Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sherry Rehman had given the clear mandate to MD Arshad Khan to restore the credibility of the pioneer PTV channel. He said MD has accepted the new assignment as a challenge and would take all possible measures to introduce better business management techniques and modern marketing trends to overcome financial loss. He said quality of drama, serials, current affair programmes, entertainment programmes and especially PTV news bulletins would be improved. He said that Arshad Khan had given new direction and better vision to PTV in line with modern requirements to provide better entertainment to viewers. He said that he would also make all-out efforts to take PTV to better position. Shahid Nadeem said he is visiting all PTV centres to personally identify the problems hindering better performance. The talented artists and fairly competent professionals including PTV producers would be encouraged to produce better programmes, he added. He urged all producers and staff to work with dedication as all available resources would be placed at their disposal for quality production. He said that producers showing better output in terms of popular programs will be rewarded. Shahid Nadeem said, a toll free telephone will also be installed at PTV headquarters to seek proposals of the viewers across the country for improvement in programs besides making public the fax and email address of PTV. He said feedback of all PTV programs will be reviewed on quarterly basis. He said that all out efforts are being made to recover all pending arrears. Earlier, GM PTV Centre Lahore Farrukh Bashir, recipient of presidential pride of performance award briefed him about the different programs being telecast from this centre and discussed about the future programs. DMD appreciated the overall performance of GM for launching successful programmes which have received tremendous response from viewers across the country.
