A team has started departmental probe to find out why a woman gave birth to a baby at the gate of Basic Health Unit (BHU) as the staff and paramedics had not opened the door for the patient.

EDO (Health) Dr Javaid has been deputed as the inquiry officer. Village Bhadaal-based labourer Latif took his wife Sharifan Bibi to the Basic Health Unit (BHU) Bhadaal for her delivery. They repeatedly knocked the BHU main gate but the paramedics deputed there did not open the gate despite the repeated knocking.

They slept there. Meanwhile, her condition became critical and she gave birth to a baby at the main gate of the BHU. Later, she was shifted to a private hospital in Sialkot for further medical treatment there. The EDO said that that Health Department had started double-shift at all the BHUs and RHCs in the rural areas. He added that the employees and paramedics deputed at BHU Bhadaal would be brought to task for their negligence.

KITE-FLYERS FOCUSED: The police have tightened noose around the kite flyers, sellers and manufacturers. It said that the kite-flying has now become fatal, because it takes lives due to which it would be discouraged at every level.

Additional IG Police Tahir stated this while addressing a meeting of senior police officials. He said that the police have complied the fresh data lists of the kites manufacturers, sellers and flyers at the union council and tehsil levels and would would launch a crackdown to discourage the kite-flying in Gujranwala Division. He said that major crackdown is being conducted in this region in the large interest of the local people with their active cooperation.

He warned the senior police officials that every SHO and DSP would be bought to task if any complaint regarding the kites-flying and kites and related materials’ selling was found in any area. He added that the police have arrested 519 kite sellers and flyers, besides, seizing 7,308 kites and 772 metal and other strings during the ongoing crackdown.

School lab well equipped but non-functional: The IT lab of Govt Girls High School Musapur is well equipped but non-functional due to unavailability of an IT teacher for last two years.

Thus, the students have been facing great difficulties in getting computer education. The Education Department had established the IT Lab there for providing advanced education of computer sciences by spending hundreds of rupee.

However, the officials concerned remained unable to appoint any IT teacher there to teach the students, due to which said IT Lab had been lying non-functional there for the last two consecutive years since its establishment.

The school has also been facing the shortage of furniture due to which the most of the students were forced to get education while sitting on the ground. Local social, educational and business circles of Pasrur have expressed grave concern over the critical situation. They urged Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and DCO Dr Asif Tufail to look into the matter and ensure early functioning of the lab.
