Lahore - All Pakistan Workers Confederation yesterday raised the demand for stepped up effots to bring in reforms for workers betterment.

“The Prime Minister is vehemently urged to introduced Progressive Labour Policy and convene Tripartite Labour Conference and get amended outdated Labour Laws” said a press release.

The PM is also urged to get enforced the Labour Laws through Independent Labour Inspection Machinery in conformity with ILOI’ Convention No 144 & 181 and introduce Administrative Reforms to raise the efficiency of the national public utilities.

These demands were raised during a meeting of the Confederation at Bakhtiar Labour Hall. The meeting was addressed by Veteran Union Leader Khurshid Ahmed, Rubeena Jameel, Akbar, Yousaf Baloch, Muhammad Anwar, Niaz Khan. Osama Tariq, Khushi Muhammad Khokhar and other reps.

At this occasion, the house urged the Government to introduce agrarian reforms by abolishing outdated system and ensure free qualitative education to each child and amend social security ordinance allowing continuous medical facilities to the secured workers and their families after retirement.

It called upon the government to enforce Safety & Health Laws and establish Tripartite Safety and Health Council to prevent tragic fatal and non-fatal accident of the workers due to unsafe working conditions and ensure them safe and healthy working environment.
