LAHORE - An anti-terrorism court yesterday ordered police to remove Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) sections from the first FIR registered in Kasur child sexual abuse incident and sent the case to the sessions court.
ATC Judge Khwaja Zafar Iqbal heard the case. During the course of hearing, the counsel of the accused said that police inserted ATA sections over the pressure of media and political interference.
He said the accused neither abused any child nor there was any evidence of their involvement, so the ATA sections cannot be inserted into this case. He pleaded the court to remove all these sections and refer the case to ordinary jurisdiction.
The prosecutor told the judge that the accused were directly involved in Kasur incident; there were solid evidences against them.
However, the court after hearing both sides, ordered police to remove ATA sections from the FIR and referred the case to the sessions court.
Last year, police booked a number of people for their alleged involvement in abusing children in Kasur district.
