ISLAMABAD - National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday asked the affectees of Modaraba scam that it was useless to stage protest demonstrations in front of NAB office as the bureau was working on the matter while remaining within the ambit of law.
A press release issued by NAB stated that some dozens of affected people gathered in front of the NAB Rawalpindi office to protest on Thursday against the accused(s) of Modarba scam . “Protests are unnecessary. NAB is bound to act on the complaint of anyone or more individuals,” said the statement.
This is intended to warn those affected by the Modaraba scam that some accused(s) are misleading the public by telling them that the misappropriated amount of will be reimbursed as soon as the accused(s) are released. Thus hoping to gain public sympathy. The claim of these accused is untrue. NAB requests the affected people to immediately seek confirmation from NAB if any such claim is made by any Modarba accused.
With reference to a news item published in a section of press on April 30, 2014 regarding release of Modaraba scam accused Mufti Ehsanul Haq, the statement said that the accused has not been released and he is still in judicial custody (not in physical custody of NAB) in Adyala Jail Rawalpindi and his case is under trial before the Accountability Court, Islamabad.
Meanwhile, NAB will continue its endeavours to ensure swift relief to all the affected people.
