LAHORE - Navy and Habib Bank Limited completed double over their rivals as two more matches were decided in Pakistan Premier Soccer League 2008 today. Navy handed 2-0 over HBL with two first half strikes from midfielders at Naval Complex, Islamabad while PTV suffered another big defeat at the hands of NBP, losing 1-4 at PSB Ground near Hamidi Hall, Islamabad. The 118 encounter of the event saw Navy overcoming HBL 2-0. Earlier the first leg at Karachi on 8 August also saw identical 2-0 win for the seamen. HBL earned 27 points from 19 matches while Navy secured 23 points from 17 encounters. It was all over bar shouting when Navy earned handsome 2-0 lead by 28th minute and blocked the efforts of the bankers with ease in the rest of the 62 minutes. HBL did manage some chances but two times SAF Games Gold medallist keeper Muhammad Shahzad blocked their attempts. Midfielder Nasir Hussain pounced on a stray ball rebounded off right upright to surge Navy ahead in the 15th minute and other midfielder Nomi Martin Gill consolidated the lead 13 minutes later when his angular drive proved too good for keeper Aqeel Ahmed. Navy led 2-0 at interval and their tight marking gave the bankers no gaps to dash through. PTV/NBP clash - the 119th match of the show - saw NBP winning 4-1. The first leg also saw NBP winning with big margin of 5-2 on 16 August 1993 NFCC Champion NBP pocketed 30 points from 19 outings as compared to PTV's fragile three points in 17 visits to the arena. PTV conceded 53 points so far and today underwent 16th defeat. Speedy midfielder Farooq Shah and winger Muhammad Asif earned brace in NBP's 4-1 win. Farooq broke the ice in the 29th minute and added his other in the 41st minute. Two goals allowed Farooq to join 12-goal Shakir Lashari (PIA) - both are behind leading scorer KRL's Muhammad Rasool (17 goals) NBP led 3-1 at interval and their other Asif hammered the ball into net twice in the 34th and 57th minute. PTV fired their lone goal through striker Naimat Ullah, his third of the event.
