SWAT - At least 11 persons were killed and two others injured on Saturday when a mortar shell, reportedly fired by the security forces against militants' suspected hideouts in Tehsil Matta, hit them. According to details, the real target of the mortar shell was the house of a militant commander in Wenai area, but unfortunately it hit the people standing behind a vehicle during curfew in the area. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital. APP adds: Security forces killed at least eight militants and injured 10 others in parts of troubled Bajaur Agency and heavily pounded their hideouts using gunship helicopters and jet fighters on Saturday. Officials of security forces told state-run news agency that operation 'Sher Dil' was progressing smoothly and the law enforcers making advancement in the strongholds of the militants. The jet fighters and gunship helicopters pounded militants' hideouts in Dama Dola and Maro Shah areas and as a result eight militants were killed and ten others injured. Several hideouts and vehicles of militants were destroyed in the air strikes, the source added. Meanwhile, political administration has arrested 11 culprits in the crackdown against suspected persons in the agency. The suspected persons were shifted to local jail for further investigation. The security forces and national lashkar of Mamoond tribesmen continued operation against militants and pro-taliban fighters at restive Bajaur Agency. The national lashkar has established several checkposts and captured their hideouts in the area.
