A sinister move

According to a news item telecast on a Cable TV channel, the Federal Law Minister Dr Babar Awan is about to introduce a new Islamabad rent bill in the parliament for passage in the coming session. Rent laws are serious stuff which require considerable public debate before they are imposed. There is no justification whatsoever in trying to approve a bill of this sort in a stealthy manner. Since the declared intention to change rent laws was first made in response to Aabpara traders organization which is basically an old tenant organization largely based in Muree and Kahuta, it is a source of concern for landlords of Islamabad. It is widely suspected that the Kahuta politicians wants to change Islamabad rent laws to please a section of traders community to improve their chances of getting votes in the upcoming elections. Babar Awan is thought to be bringing changes in Islamabad rent laws, which shall favour the Qabza activities, which will make any eviction of defaulters very difficult. Actually, rent laws have discriminated against owners of property very consistently. he result is that people prefer years of litigation to vacating the place especially commercial places.
