Present on the occasion, M Siddiq tried to foil the abduction bid but the accused managed to escaped with the victim, he added.

The complainant further said that though a case had been registered against the accused with Saddar Police Station but the police were unwilling to arrest the accused in this case as they were being patronised by influential landlords of the area.

He said that Iqbal had married his wife against the Shariah forcibly. Protesting along with his family members, the abductee’s father, Wazir Ahmad, said that the police were siding with the “abductors”.
