8 archaeological sites identified

Islamabad - Archaeological experts have so far explored eight ancient archaeological sites in Zone-IV, capital through conducting the first-ever archaeological survey.  The survey is being conducting by Department of Archaeology and Museums (DOAM) to find potential sites for documentation, excavation and preservation, saving the precious heritage for the future generations.  “Experts have so far identified eight sites in Zone-IV of the capital and the survey is continuing in different areas to find more sites,” Director Archaeology Abdul Azeem said yesterday. He said the experts have so far discovered historical monuments, worship places of Sikh community before partition, mosques of Mughal period, remains of Buddhist period and a memorial of British period wars.
