Should Shia taxpayers in KPK not be furious at their tax money going to fund Maulana Sami-ul-Haq’s seminary to the tune of Rs 300 million, courtesy Imran Khan?
Would they not be in a position to demand an equal sum for Shia seminaries? And would other Sunni schools not feel discriminated against by Imran Khan playing favourites among religious seminaries by bestowing state patronage on just this school of the Taliban’s grandfather?
Would it not be best if the State remained neutral among competing religions in order to avoid sectarian schisms in the body politic? Would the money not have been better spent on government schools open to everyone, regardless of religion?
