11 POs held in Peshawar, cop killed in attack

peshawar   -  Eleven proclaimed offenders (POs) were arrested with arms in the provincial capital on Monday, while a policeman was also shot dead in separate incident.

A spokesman for Peshawar police said that besides the arrest of 11 wanted men, the cops recovered 78 pistols, 5 Kalashnikovs, one Kalakov, three rifles, and bullets during the search and strike operations. Also, the cops recovered more than 13kg charas, 2kg heroin and 2.5kg crystal meth (ice).

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP)-Operations Haroon Rasheed, along with SSP Investigation Kokab Farooq and other officials visited the site of an attack that had left a policeman dead. Officials said Assistant Sub-Inspector Imtiaz Khan was martyred by armed men in the precincts of the Mathra Police Station on Monday, while he was returning from a court hearing in Peshawar.

Talking to journalists on the occasion, SSP Haroon Rasheed said that the case is being investigated from various angles and hopefully, the killers would be arrested soon. The police also launched a search operation in the area soon after the attack.
