LAHORE - The bodies of a seven-year-old girl and her four-year-old brother, packed in a sack, were found lying alongside a road near a market here in Kot Lakhpat area, police and eyewitnesses said on Thursday. Both the children were identified as Zesahn and Komal, resident of Aizaz Town, Kahna area. The police said that Manzoor Masih, father of the victims, was employee at the farmhouse of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Central leader Pakistan Muslim League. The ill-fated father told the police that he was at work while his wife was also at work at a local factory when some unidentified persons entered their house in Soay Asal area and took the children to some unknown place. The children were alone at house in the morning when we went to work. As we came back, they were missing, a police sources quoted father of the victim as saying. The police investigators revealed that both the children were strangulated to death by unidentified killers. Apparently, it seemed that the killer(s) strangulated the children to death with a string, packed their bodies in the sack and fled away after throwing the bag near the market in Chungi Amarsidhu, police sources revealed. Some passers-by and local residents spotted the bag and informed the police. The police reached the spot, opened the sack and recovered bodies of the children. We also recovered a piece of multi-colour sheet from the sack. Beggars often keep this kind of sheet along with them. We are clueless so far but we have begun investigations to probe into the double-murder keeping in view all aspects of the happening including kidnapping, a police investigator said. The incident spread a wave of terror in the entire locality as hundreds of people gathered on the spot soon after the happening and the news spread in the City like fire. Body of the girl was wrapped in a leather jacket while the body of her brother was covered in the multi-colour sheet, investigators added. According to the police, some local residents witnessed the sack in front of the electronic shops and informed the emergency police (15) which reached on the spot. Later, Kot Lakhpat police shifted the bodies to the city morgue for autopsy. The police investigators said that according to the preliminary investigations both the children were strangulated to death, as there were torture marks on their bodies. When contacted, Superintendent Police (SP) Model Town Rana Ayaz Saleem said that apparently it looked that both the minor child were strangulated to death. It is still a blind case. We are investigating to resolve the mystery, he added. The SP also claimed that a special team comprising senior police investigators has been constituted in this regard and soon the accused would be in police lock-up. Nothing is clear so far. The bodies have been sent to morgue for autopsy, he added. No case was registered till the filing of this report. Further investigations were underway. It is important to note that on September 9, two bullet-ridden bodies of a 13-year-old unidentified girl and 10-year-old boy had been recovered from the bushes near a college in Race Course police area. The bodies also bore marks of bruises on their faces which indicated that they were subjected to severe tortured before killings. But nothing has been done in this regard so far. As these current minor bodies have put a great question mark on the police performance.
