PESHAWAR Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar Hussain has reiterated the government resolve that despite obstacles they would continue to fight terrorism and they would not be allowed to fulfil their nefarious designs to destabilise the country. He expressed these views while distributing certificates among students of the Gems and Gemmological Institute of Pakistan (GGIP) in Peshawar on Saturday. Besides others, the high-ups of Trade Development Authority, Provincial Chief SMEDA and President All Pakistan Commercial Exporters Association of Rough and Unpolished Precious and Semi Precious Stones were also present on this occasion. The minister also visited the labs of GGIP and personally viewed different processes of cutting, polishing and finishing gemstones. He took keen interest in it. Referring to the prevailing scenario, Mian Iftikhar maintained that it was high time that they should face the situation with wisdom instead of emotions, as a slight mistake could become disastrous at the moment. He said their political and military leadership chalked out a future strategy, hoping that it would yield positive results in future. He said they were against terrorism and those supporting terrorism were also their enemies. The minister said the provincial government initiated a soft loan scheme for the local skilled manpower in order to promote their businesses. He said it would create job opportunities and economy of the province would be strengthened. HE said the skilled manpower concerning to gems stones would also benefit from this scheme. Mian Iftikhar Hussain maintained that Allah blessed KP with natural resources in abundance, adding that exploiting these resources properly was need of the hour. He said they were doing their work in this regard. He said new technology would be adopted to strengthen gemstones business and its commercial export association would be taken on board. Talking about the demands of the GGIP, he said they should submit their demands in written so that they could be taken up with the authorities concerned.
