OUR STAFF REPORTER RAHIM YAR KHAN The Founders Group and the Friends Business Forum, the opposition groups of the Rahim Yar Khan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, are at daggers drawn after a violent brawl in the chambers annual general meeting. The brawl which lasted for over an hour, broke out following the protest staged by members of the FBF against holding of the meeting at the factory of FG leader Haji Ibrahim Hamliya Feeds instead of at the chambers office. At first, they exchanged harsh and abusive words and afterwards the place turned into a battlefield when members of both the groups used tables and chairs to attack each other. The situation turned ugly after armed guards of Haji Ibrahim jumped into the fray and pointed guns at their opponents. The protsters also got aggressive, screaming, shoving and stomping on them. Later, police were called in but they failed to control the situation. National Assemblys Standing Committee for Food and Agriculture Chairman Javed Iqbal Warraich, Pakistan Peoples Partys MNA Mian Abdul Sattar and MPA Javed Akbar Dhaloon, who were invited as guests, were neglected in the wake of fight. It is pertinent to mention here that the Founders Group won elections of the RYKCCI third time a few days back. Mian Ehsanul Haq, a member of the RYKCCI from FBF, told this scribe that the incumbent FG convened a so-called executive body meeting to award membership to its blue-eyed businessmen by depositing their membership fee out of its own pocket. He also alleged that as many as 700 new memberships were granted in violation of rules in last four days. He also maintained that if the annual general meeting had not been organised at the Hamliya Feeds the incident could not have happened. However, Mr Ibrahim was not available for comments.
