LAHORE Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif welcomed a 20-member medical experts from Indonesia on Saturday. Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Members National Assembly Muhammad Afzal Khokhar and Mian Marghoob Ahmad, secretaries of Health, Higher Education, Schools, government officials and Indonesian Deputy High Commissioner were also present on the occasion. Talking on the occasion, the CM said we were thankful to the President, government and people of Indonesia for sending a team of medical experts in this hour of trial. Indonesia has been facing dengue virus for the last 40 years and due to effective strategy, has been successful to overcoming this virus to a large extent. Arrival of Indonesian experts after Sri Lankans is also a good omen and we will take full benefit from the experience and expertise of medical team of brotherly Islamic country, he said, while mentioning that the government was implementing a comprehensive strategy for eradication of dengue, and all resources were being utilised for this purpose. He added that the assistance to be provided by the Indonesian experts would help in the battle against dengue. Secretaries Health, Education and DCO Lahore gave detailed briefings regarding steps taken for eradication of dengue virus. Head of Indonesian team Dr Rita said Pakistan and Indonesia were brother Islamic countries and helping the Pakistani brethren was an honour for them. She said their country had been facing dengue virus for the last 40 years, and we would inform about our experiences to the Pakistani experts.
