Liaqat Ali Khans anniversary observed

LAHORE - The 115th birth anniversary of first ex-prime minister of Pakistan Liaquat Ali Khan is being observed with zeal here on Saturday. He was born on this day in the year 1895. 60 year of Pakistan-China Friendship will mark the celebrations. Mr. Liaquat Ali Khan had established Pakistan-China diplomatic ties during his tenure of premiership in 1951. Different, political, social and intellectual organizations, NGOs as well as Labour unions attended seminars, symposiums and discussions in various parts of the City to pay homage to the services of Liaquat Ali Khan An others importance of selecting the day for the celebrations is 62nd national day of Peoples Republic of China which also falls on October 1. A barrister by profession, like his leader, Mohammed Ali Jinnah, he entered politics in 1923, being elected first to the provincial legislature of the United Provinces and then to the central legislative assembly. He joined the Muslim League and soon became closely associated with Jinnah. By degrees he won first the respect and then the admiration of the Muslim community for his share in the struggle for Pakistan; when independence was won in 1947 and Jinnah became the first governor-general, Liaquat was the obvious choice as prime minister. In this post his achievements were outstanding. If Jinnah founded Pakistan, Liaquat established it, laying down the main lines of policy, domestic and foreign, that afterward guided the country. The Quaid-e-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan Memorial Committee has held an elaborate program celebrating Liaquat Ali Khans birth anniversary and committee members was visited the Quaid-e-Millats Shrine on today (Saturday) to offer Pray and lay a floral wreath on his grave.
