LAHORE Railways Minister Ghulam Ahmad Bilour has said that PR employees interests would be protected at all costs and he would get necessary funds for the rehabilitation of department after personally requesting President and Prime Minister soon. He expressed these views while talking to Prem Union delegation led by Hafiz Salman Butt here on Saturday. General Manager Operation Rana Saeed Akhtar and unions SVP Sheikh Mohammad Anwar were also present on the occasion. In the meeting, Prem Union demanded the Minister of intime salary and pension payments in cash along with recruitment of officers on merit. The union also stressed that railway stations should not be closed down on the pretext of deficit otherwise the residuary assets of PR would also be stolen. However, Union appreciated PR decision to get locomotives on lease from foreign countries in a bid to get PR operation smooth and assured PR high-ups of unions unconditional support in this regard. Minister also accept union demand that department diesel reservoirs should at least be for ten days rather than only for two days as Railways is a strategic department.
