KARACHI - Charged mob on Wednesday lynched three bandits while police claimed to have gunned down two brothers of notorious Lyari gangster Arshad Pappu in an exchange of fire in Malir area.

Two alleged bandits were lynched by a crowd in North Karachi within the jurisdictions of Sir Syed police station.

Two suspects were trying to flee after robbing the people at a car showroom. However, a crowd of people managed to catch the robbers and physically assaulted them to death. The robbers were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where they succumbed to injuries. They were later identified as Waqas and Mushtaba, residents of North Karachi. SHO Jamal Leghari said the looted cash money, cell phones and a motorcycle along with two pistols were also recovered.

On the other side, bandits killed a milk shop owner during a robbery bid. When they were trying to escape, one out of two robbers was caught by the violent locals. He was also tortured to death in Korangi locality.

Two suspects were trying to flee after shooting a milk shop owner over offering resistance on a robbing bid. One of them, however, later caught by the residents of the area. Charged mob tortured him to death. The milk shop owner, Abdul Yasir, 22, also died later while bandit killed has yet to be identified. The body of bandit has been rushed to the morgue for identification.

Meanwhile, the AVCC Police claimed to have killed two gangsters during an encounter conducted to release kidnappees kept in the custody of gangsters in Malir locality. The killed gangsters were later identified as Shera and Abdullah aka Nasir. The encounter took place when the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) police conducted a raid at the kidnappers’ hideout at Khosa Goth behind Bagh-e-Jinnah in Malir. When police came close to the hideout of gangsters, they offered massive resistance and left three policemen injured during retaliation.

The AVCC police called more contingent of law enforcers to counter the gangsters who were attacking with automatic weapons and also throwing hand grenades. District Malir police and Rangers also reached the site and participated in the operation. Law enforcers were managed to recover Hanif Motiwala, a prominent jeweler and a goldsmith, who was abducted from PECHS within the jurisdictions of Ferozabad police station on August 8.

AVCC SP Nasir Aftab said the level of resistance was beyond the imagination. “We raided at their hideout with the help of cell phone location tracing.” SP Aftab further said after identification of the killed kidnappers as Shera and Abdullah aka Nasir Bengali, police revealed that they were the brothers of Arshad Pappu. Both the kidnappers were involved in various cases of the kidnapping for ransom, extortion, target killings and narcotics. Few of their comrades, however, managed to escape during an encounter.

Arshad Pappu, leader of notorious Lyari gang war, was killed with one of his brothers Yasir Arafat and a confidant in Lyari by the members of his rivalry group members in March 2013.

After the encounter, AVCC SP Aftab has been transferred to Khairpur division following the worsening situation of Khairpur.
