ISLAMABAD

Central Information Secretary PTI, Shireen Mazari Wednesday came down hard on the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and questioned its integrity saying the bureau had an under-hand deal with the government in connection with the corruption cases against PM Nawaz Sharif.

In a statement issued from PTI’ Central Secretariat, she said that first NAB had not filed an appeal against the Accountability Court’s decision acquitting Asif Ali Zardari in the Polo Ground corruption case.

The statement said that now NAB has again failed to file an appeal against the decision of Accountability Court rejecting bureau’ petition to revive corruption cases against PM Nawaz Sharif. This proves PTI’s contention that without a truly independent NAB, there will never be any accountability and punishment of the rich and powerful.

NAB today is a farce as it only proceeds against the powerless while the powerful are allowed to go free to continue indulging in corruption, she said in the statement.
