Attique terms LoC violations Indian govt’s poll stunt

LAHORE - The Indian government, through its actions on the Line of Control (LoC), wants to attract the right-wing vote bank of its rival BJP in the next elections, remarked All Jammu Kashmir Muslim Conference (AJKMC) Chief Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan.
Attique, who is also a former prime minister of Azad Jammu Kashmir, expressed these views during a chat with a select group of reporters on Sunday.
He said incidents of firing on the LoC were part of the Congress government’s election stunt as India could not afford to start a war with Pakistan.
He questioned how New Delhi which was suffering serious damages at the hands of a few thousand freedom fighters in Held Kashmir could wage a war with Islamabad.
The AJKMC chief observed that India might want to launch a psychological warfare against the Pakistani leadership, adding Pakistan Army’s befitting reply to the Indian forces would not let the Congress government succeed in its plans.
He said the Congress government had completely failed in handling vital issues pertaining to foreign policy and completing its tenure solely with the support of the establishment.
He added the Congress government’s poor performance was creating space for extremists like Narinder Modi to grab the office of prime minister after the next elections.
The former AJK premier said the PML-N chief during his election campaign underlined the need for cordial relations with India, but the extremist and right-wing voters in India had always united against Pakistan.
Talking about the vote of no-confidence against the AJK government, Attique said the prime minister of Pakistan had taken a wise step by blocking the move.
He claimed Pakistan’s former presidents, General Ziaul Haq and Pervez Musharraf proved courageous while facing India over the Kashmir issue. He said President Asif Ali Zardari was a courageous man, but his party damaged Pakistan.
Answering a question, he said Indian hegemonic policies made Pakistan a nuclear power, adding its nuclear assets were in safe hands and no power could destroy them.
