Five armed dacoits deprived guests of the walima reception of an expatriate of cash, gold ornaments and cellphones and made off with the valuables worth more than Rs10 million, in broad daylight here on Sunday.

The incident occurred in the city’s posh area in the remit of City A Division Police.

According to details, Adnan, a resident of Ghang Road Street-12 tied the knot with Pakistani-origin European national girl. Walima reception of the couple was in progress when five dacoits stormed the venue in posh locality of the city.

 They took all participants including the bride hostage at gunpoint and started collecting gold ornaments cash including foreign currency and cellphones all participants including the bride.

 Later they fled the scene with the valuables worth amounting to Rs10 million. Following the incident, the expatriate bride fell unconscious while women and children started wailing. They cursed the police and cast doubts over the sincerity and affiliation of the police officials. They also questioned the presence of police department and asked the DPO to either tell the masses to arrange security for themselves or quit the job.

They appealed t the Punjab Chief Minister and the IG Police to take notice of the lawlessness and immediately transfer the police high ups posted in Sheikhupura.
