Islamabad - The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) is meeting here today (Friday) to consider seven projects, including Prime Minister National Health Programme, worth more than Rs65 billion, for approval.

The meeting will also consider two concept clearance papers: Automation of Post Offices through NPA worth $12.138 million and Dargai Hydro Station Rehabilitation worth Rs4791.066 million.

The Federal Minister for Planning Development and Reforms, Ahsan Iqbal, will chair the meeting.

According to the agenda available with The Nation, the CDWP will consider two projects each in health, physical planning, transportation and communication sectors and one project in the energy sector. The two projects under the health sector include; Prime Minister’s National Health Programme worth Rs8179 million. In Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2016-17, Rs3000 million have been allocated for the project. Similarly the project of Expanded Programme on Immunization, Punjab (EPI) will also be considered in the meeting.

The Punjab government is sponsoring the project and its total cost is Rs22262.63 million with a Foreign Exchange Component (FEC) of Rs3815.96 million. There is no allocation for the project in the current PSDP.

In the energy sector, the project of Renewable Energy Development Sector Investment Programme (REDSIP) will also be taken up. The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is sponsoring the projects and its total cost is Rs15737.16 million with a FEC of Rs4850.75 million.

Under REDSIP, six projects will be implemented in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which includes; construction of 36.6 Megga Watt Daral Khwar Hydro Power Project Swat, Construction of Ranolia 17 MW  Hydro Power Project in District Kohistan, Construction of 2.6 MW Hydro Power Project Machai District Mardan, Feasability studies of Koto,Jabori and Karora Hydro Power Project (PC-II), Construction of Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) office building, Capacity development of PEDO and related entities of Energy and Power departments. Two projects of Transport and Communications sector will also be considered by CDWP. These include 6-lane highway from Kala Shah Kaku to Lahore Ring Road (18.30 KM), including a bridge over River Ravi (Lahore Eastern Bypass) worth Rs1050 million. In PSDP 2016-17, Rs1050 million have been allocated for the project.

Widening/improvement of a road from Ghumanwal to Baigpur in NA-100, district Gujranwala, worth Rs492.006, will also be considered.

The Ministry of Housing and Works is the sponsoring agency of the project and Rs100 million have been allocated for the project in the current fiscal year.

In Physical Planning and Housing sector, two projects will be discussed in the meeting: Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Complex worth Rs2846.859 million and construction of an office complex including a boundary wall for Survey of Pakistan, Lahore, worth Rs 282.306 million. The PSDP allocation for both the projects is Rs250 million and Rs125 million, respectively.
