CM sees progress through CPEC

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is a guarantee to the progress and development of Pakistan.

He said this while talking to a delegation of China State Construction International Corporation which him yesterday. The project is fast under completion and it will prove a game changer for the entire region after it is operational, the chief minister added.

The chief minister said that relations between Pakistan and China are strengthening day by day and investment package of $46 billion by China is a splendid gift for Pakistan. He said that under China Pakistan Economic Corridor, work is being forwarded speedily across Pakistan including Punjab.

He said that under CPEC, bright journey of progress of the country and prosperity of the masses has been started. Shehbaz Sharif said that projects of CPEC are game changer for Pakistan. CPEC is a guarantee to our progress and prosperity, which is being implemented round the clock, he added.

The chief minister said that CPEC is such an excellent gift by Chinese leadership and people for Pakistan, which can never be forgotten.  He said that CPEC is reflective of Pak-China friendship. Pak-China friendship has strengthened due to CPEC and the relations between the two countries have become exemplary, he added.

A new era of Pak-China friendship has usher in as a result of CPEC projects and CPEC projects will change the destiny of the region including Pakistan. He said that CPEC is not a package of $46 billion but reflective of unprecedented Pak-China friendship and a proof of sincere love of Chinese leadership with Pakistan.

HEALTHCARE PROmise

Shehbaz Sharif has said his government is determined to ensure availability of quality healthcare to every citizen.

Presiding over a high level meeting, here yesterday when progress regarding provision of quality healthcare facilities to the people and reforms programme in Health Department were reviewed, the chief minister said proper treatment facilities is right of common man which is being ensured by the government.

The chief minister said that billions of rupees are being spent on provision of free medicines to the patients in government hospitals. He said that he will not tolerate wastage of resources and every penny of resources will be ensured for providing quality healthcare facilities to the masses.

He said that a coordinated programme is being implemented for the provision of quality health facilities to the people of the province. Work has been started on a phase wise programme for provision of best medical facilities to the people in district and tehsil headquarters hospitals, he added. He said that task of provision of quality healthcare facilities in all district and tehsil headquarters hospitals will be completed during two years.

Shehbaz Sharif said that work of provision of quality healthcare facilities in 40 district and tehsil headquarters hospitals will be completed during current fiscal year.

The chief minister said that cleanliness and other services are being outsourced and added that equipment and machinery for diagnostic tests in the hospitals should be outsourced. He said that system of procurement of medicines, distribution to hospitals and free provision to patients is being set on modern lines. He said that misappropriation in free provision of medicines will not be tolerated at any cost.

Shehbaz Sharif directed that immediate arrangements should be made for the training abroad of new staff appointed in Drug Testing Lab. He said that he will personally review health reforms programme and other projects regularly.

Secretary Primary & Secondary Health while giving a briefing regarding health reforms programme told that cleanliness and other services have been outsourced in five district headquarters hospitals of the province.
