The poverty rates in Punjab are growing at an alarming pace. Poverty has driven many individuals towards selling their organs to make end meet. According to a recent report, 28 people died because they sold different organs of their body just to earn a few pennies. What’s most disconcerting is that the number of deaths is increasing day by day. Poverty is creator of all other evils that preside in our society. In this particular case its robbing many of their precious lives. When individuals go empty bellied for days, they are left with no other choice than to generate resources in a twisted way. I urge the Punjab government to halt the rapid growth of poverty. They can do so by creating more employment opportunities and providing funding to families that live below the poverty line. If firm steps are taken, poverty can be eradicated.
