IHC reprimands PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz for not observing court decorum

ISLAMABAD - The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Wednesday reprimanded PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz for not observing court decorum during the hearing of her appeal against her conviction in NAB reference
A two-member bench of IHC comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani conducted hearing of the appeals of Maryam Nawaz and her husband Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar.  The court also expressed displeasure over the late arrival of Maryam for court proceedings. The court was hearing the appeals against the sentences in Al-Azizia and Avenfield references.
When Maryam Nawaz reached the courtroom, party workers greeted her by shouting slogans. The court expressed anger at Maryam Nawaz for speaking loudly in the courtroom during the hearing. While giving remarks, Justice Aamer said that the accused who does not care about the sanctity of the court is not entitled to bail. 
Earlier, Maryam’s counsel Amjad Pervaiz filed the application saying that the applicant is on general adjournment from August 16 to September 3. Therefore he prayed to the court that hearing in the appeal of Maryam Nawaz may be adjourned for some other date in the interest of justice. Accepting his plea for adjournment, the court deferred further hearing in the case till September 8. Maryam Nawaz and her husband Captain (retd) Mohammad Safdar Awan had filed appeals against their conviction in the Avenfield Apartment reference. The Islamabad High Court (IHC) had previously separated the appeals of Nawaz Sharif from the appeals of Maryam and Safdar and declared the former premier a proclaimed offender over his perpetual absence from the hearing.A
