'Capitalism is anti-labourer'

KARACHI - A large number of Pasban activists Thursday staged a protest demonstration outside Karachi Press Club for the achievement of labour rights. The protesters, led by Pasban Pakistan Secretary General Usman Moazzam and Pasban Karachi President Syed Ashraf Hussain and carrying banners and placards against capitalist system, chanted slogans in favor of labour rights. They also carried symbolic coffins of IMF, World Bank and World Trade Organisation and slammed their policies. In a statement, Pasban Pakistan President Altaf Shakoor has observed that anti-laborer capitalist system has reached brink of disaster. He also called upon G-20 countries to stop protecting this system, adding IMF, WB and WTO should be winded up and labourers given rights to live with respect. He observed that at present world needs a welfare economic system instead of capitalism.
