LAHORE - Following a scuffle with media men a couple of days back, doctors at public hospitals in the City did not perform their duties on Friday multiplying the miseries of the patients and their attendants. PMA office-bearers maintained that the Punjab government failed to provide security to doctors at workplace and they would go on strike on Saturday (today) in favor of their demands. They also said that the Pakistan Medical Association would chalk out further strategy regarding the strike in a meeting on Sunday (tomorrow). The meeting was presided over by PMA President Dr Yasmin Rashid and attended by Dr Tanveer Anwar, Dr Salman Kazmi and other office-bearers of PMA and Young Doctors Association. The citizens visiting public hospitals were seen worried about the treatment of their patients. Asif Ijaz, a visitor, said that his child was not feeling well. He visited the Ganga Ram Hospital, but the doctors did not checked-up his child as they were on strike. How can I pay heavy fees of private clinic to get my child checked, he said while talking to this reporter. Another citizen Hussain Ahmad said that he managed the check-up of his wife through the reference of a doctor. Same situation was reported from other public hospitals of the City.
