LAHORE - Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has Friday announced a special package of allotment of 'free-of-cost residential plots for the low-income homeless families in rural areas and for the heirs of the martyrs of Pakistan Army and Punjab Police who laid down their lives in the war against terrorism. Under this package, 5-marla plots will be given to three lakh landless and homeless rural families in Jinnah Abadis, having a monthly income of less than Rs 6000, whereas 10-marla residential plots will be allotted free of charge to the families of martyrs of Pakistan Army and Punjab Police who lost their lives while fighting the recent wave of terrorism. The chief minister has ordered all concerned departments of provincial government to ensure provision of basic amenities in Jinnah Abadi schemes. It may be mentioned here that the process of allotment has been simplified and made more transparent by introducing necessary amendments in Katchi Abadi Act 1986 and 5 per cent quota has been reserved for martyrs in all Jinnah Abadis according to their domicile. The process of allocation of land in all the districts of the province has already been completed through Divisional Commissioners. Contrary to past, these residential schemes are being set up at better site and necessary planning has also been made for the provision of basic amenities to the residents of these abadis.
