ISLAMABAD - Frontier Constabulary (FC) deployed in Federal Capital is assisting Islamabad police in ensuring security duties at important installations. According to a senior police official the removal of FC from foreign mission would bring not only a bad image to other forces but also become a source of problem for Islamabad police while ensuring security duties at important places including foreign mission etc. It is relevant to note here that this was decided after Interior Ministry had ordered the removal of FC from Diplomatic Enclave on March 26 and stated that Islamabad police and Ranger would replace it. This decision was taken when diplomatic circle expressed concerns over FC as some of its officials had had links with banned militant out fits. Sources further said that Islamabad police was fully backing FC and some officials of Islamabad police have been demanding not to remove FC from Diplomatic Enclave. Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Kaleem Imam here Friday visited Diplomatic Enclave. He was accompanied by DIG Security Dr Mujeeb ur Rehman and SSP Security Ahsan Abbass. IGP also visited tented posts of FC, met with its officers and jawans and directed for providing them all necessary facilities there. Commandant FC Sifat Ghayur is a very honest and brave officer, the IGP said adding that FC has been assisting Islamabad police in security duties for the last few years and it is ensuring joint security duties at outer cordon of security division as well as outside embassies. He also appreciated the hard work of FC personnel and said that this force is accomplishing its duties in a responsible manner. Islamabad police will ensure steps for the welfare of officers and Jawans of FC, he added.
