ISLAMABAD (Online) Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Friday said the US decision to abolish the screening system under which the citizens of 14 countries including Pakistan were to be subjected to stringent screening for flights bound for the US on the protest and demand of Pakistan. Talking to media here on Friday, FM Qureshi recalled that President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and he himself had raised the issue several times before the US Administration. He further said the issue was also forcefully raised during the recently-held Pakistan-US strategic dialogue and the US was told that such restrictions would only create doubts between two countries. Responding to a question, he said Pak-US strategic relations would be further strengthened in future, adding that the issue of civil nuclear technology was also discussed in the talks and Pakistan has informed the US about its interests. APP adds: Talking to a private news channel, Shah Mahmood Qureshi expressed his delight and said that Allah Almighty has enabled him to address the grievances of the people who faced problems at American airports. Its a great success and in future government would give nation more such good news of success, he added. Referring to his official visit to Saudi Arabia, he said he is going there on the invitation of the Saudi government. He told that comprehensive agenda would be discussed covering relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The vision of Pakistan to strengthen Pak-Saudi relations and the visit of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Hamid Karzai to the kingdom would also be taken up in talks with the Saudi leadership, he added. To a question about Indias demand that Saudi Arabia should play the role of an arbitrator between Pakistan and India, he said Pakistan does not have any objection to it because Saudi Arabia is Pakistans trusted friend. Our ties with Saudi Arabia are not only on governmental level but also on public level, the people of Pakistan consider Saudi Arabia as their bosom friend, he added.
