KARACHI (APP) - Shipping activity remained brisk at the port where four ships carrying containers and palm oil, chemicals and crude oil took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO oil Terminal respectively on Thursday. Meanwhile, four more ships scheduled to load/offload containers, 15,300 tonnes cement and 12,000 tonnes palm oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours. Berth occupancy was observed at sixty four percent at the port on Thursday as compared to seventy three percent on previous day where a total of seven ships namely C.V Mare Phoenicum, M.V Super Star-II, M.V Eleonora, M.T Malvern, M.T Oriental Oki, M.T Bunga Melati-7 and M.T Platters were engaged at PQA berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, LPG, chemicals, palm oil and crude oil respectively during last 24 hours. A cargo volume of 38,945 tonnes comprising 32,9199 tonnes imports and 6,026 tonnes exports inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 636 containers (Boxes) was handled at the port during last 24 hours. Four ships C.V CMA CGM Coral, C.V Mare Phoenicum, M.V Super Star- II and M.T Bum Chin sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while three more ships M.V Eleonora, M.T Malvern and M.T Oriental Oki are expected to sail on Friday. Three ships C.V Maersk Novazzano, C.V CMA CGM Eiffel and M.T Royal Crystal carrying containers and chemicals are expected to take berths at container Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Friday, April 02. Two ships C.V MSC Sarawak and M.T Al-Soor-II with containers ane diesel oil are due to arrive at PQ on same day.
