PPP asks Nawaz league to rejoin federal cabinet

LAHORE - The PPP Punjab President Rana Aftab Ahmad Khan has asked PML-N to re-join the federal cabinet, as all of its demands regarding implementation of CoD and other constitutional matters have been fulfilled completely. Addressing a news conference at partys provincial secretariat in Faisal Town, he said after tabling of constitutional package in the Parliament, there was no justification left for the PML-N to remain out of the government. Rana Aftab also stressed upon federal and provincial governments to focus their attention on the basic problems of the people since all constitutional issues have been settled with the restoration of constitution and democracy in their true spirit. He termed introduction of the constitutional package in the Parliament as historic day for the nation. Rana Aftab said his organisation would celebrate Week of Constitutions Restoration after April 4. The PPP cadres across Punjab would hold seminars and functions to mark this histories achievement of democratic forces, especially of the PPP, he added. It was ZA Bhutto who first gave a consensus constitution to the nation and now Yousuf Raza Gilani and Asif Ali Zardari have restored the Constitution to its original shape, he remarked. He said PPP did not gain much out of the new changes in the Constitution unlike the PML-N leadership, facing ban on third-time premiership and chief ministership. He, however, termed the said embargo as unconstitutional and undemocratic, saying that people should decide about the terms of office of their leaders through elections. Replying to a question, he said Leader of the Opposition, Ch Nisar Ali Khan should have been present in the House at the time of presentation of the constitutional package. Later, the PPP workers came out on the road and danced to the tune of drum to celebrate the historic agreement on the constitutional package. They also distributed sweets on the occasion.
