ISLAMABAD (Online) - President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani have expressed their satisfaction over the outcome of recently held strategic dialogue between Pakistan and the United States in Washington. On Friday, a high-level meeting was held at the Presidency with President Zardari in chair to review the progress made in the strategic talks as well as security situation prevailing in the country, official sources said. Premier Gilani, Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Minister for Foreign Affairs Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Advisor to the Prime Minister on Finance Advisor Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh attended the meeting. The president and the prime Minister while expressing satisfaction over Pak-US strategic hoped that the strategic partnership between both countries in different fields would be strengthened and expanded. During the meeting, Qureshi and Hafeez Shaikh briefed the president and the prime minister on economic, social and trade aspects of dialogue while Gen Kayani took them into confidence over defence and security aspects, sources said. They informed the meeting that Pakistan had succeeded in obtaining a favourable outcome and the US was ready to cooperate in energy, defence and other fields. Zardari and Gilani said the strategic dialogue would not only strengthen the relations between the two countries but would also fulfil countrys needs. According to the sources, matters pertaining to Foreign Minister Qureshis visit to Saudi Arabia were also discussed.
